In Vedic Astrology, Nakshatra plays essential roles just like planets in predictions. Thus, it is believed that Nakshatra is the DNA of a chart. To provide a fine-tuned prediction, it is essential to understand the power and characteristics of the nakshatra, the lunar mansion, and its pada. So, if you want to learn how a nakshatra and the padas help deliver the most accurate and precise predictions, let's read this blog shared by the best Jyotish in Kolkata, Astrologer SK Abid.

Decipher Differences between Nakshatra & Padas

While nakshatras provide general characteristics, the padas provide in-depth particulars that make predictions more precise and error-free. Astrologers, who foster pure intention to help people, always consider the qualities of Nakshatras and Padas to deliver remarkable predictions. Also, Astro-enthusiasts who desire to deep dive to learn how the energy of the planets influences us with slight differences in degrees (each nakshatra rules 13.33 degrees and each pada rules 3.20 degrees) and their birth charts must decipher the finer details of nakshatra and nakshatra padas.

Nakshatras & Padas with Gunas, Elements & Planets

As we know, there are 12 signs in the zodiac belts and 27 Nakshatras. Each nakshatra is divided into four equal parts, which are called padas. There are a total of 108 padas that help us to make better predictions according to their element, guna, and ruling planet. Each pada denotes a Navamsha sign and reflects the qualities of planets at a particular point. The intriguing fact is that you will find two persons born under the same Moon sign and star act differently. Why!  Let’s break the points down to understand it easily.

1. Each Nakshatra has 4-padas. The 4 padas carry the energy of 4 different elements, like fire, earth, air, and water, respectively, and the pattern goes the same for all nakshatra and pada. While each nakshatra is ruled by a specific planet, each pada is also governed by a different planet.

Example: Ashwini Nakshatra is ruled by the planet Ketu. It has 4 padas; the 1st pada is ruled by fire, the 2nd pada is ruled by earth, the 3rd pada is by air, and the 4th pada is by water. The 1st two pada of nakshatra have Rajasik Guna, the 3rd pada has Sattvik Guna, and the 4th pada has Tamasik Guna.

2. Coming to the ruling planets of the pada. It maintains the same sequence of planets that we see in Vimshottari Mahadasha, like Ketu, Venus, Sun, Moon, Mars, Rahu, Jupiter, Saturn, and Mercury.

Example: The four pada of Ashwini Nakshatra come under the influence of Ketu, Venus, Sun, and Moon, respectively. Next, the 4 padas of Bharani nakshatra will continue the order of planets, starting from Mars, Rahu, and Jupiter to Saturn. The 1st pada of Kritika Nakshatra will be under the influence of Mercury. The sequence goes on till the last pada of Revati nakshatra.

The changing of the pada of a specific nakshatra brings significant changes in the qualities and traits of a native. A native born in Ashlesha Nakshatra with pada 1 will be intuitive, while an Ashlesha-born, pada 2 native will be manipulative but sharp.
